I like podcasts. They aren’t to difficult to make, and they can be very interesting if the speakers are confident and knowledgeable. The Freakonomics podcasts are my personal favorite. They did one on soccer that mentioned, and I’m paraphrasing, that soccer players would be most likely to make the goal if they were to aim the ball in the middle of the goal, where the goalie usually stands. This is because the goalie must jump to defend a side before the ball is actually kicked in order to block the shot. The goalie’s rarely stay in the center because they look ridiculous if the ball goes to the corner. Hence, the middle of the goal is almost always open. Players never shoot there, however, because they look ridiculous if they aim at the middle and the goalie does not move, leaving the goalie with an easy block. I wish I had something that interesting to broadcast, and that I knew some professional soccer players to inform.

Yesterday, Jessica, Jeff, and I walked to the on-campus radio’s station’s broadcasting site. Although we should have called first, Andrew Loyola, the Production Manager gave us a tour of their Library which was lined with who-knows-how-many CDs and vinyls. The broadcasting equipment was an interesting sight as well. Thanks Andrew!
